We’ll be sure to let you know of anything new that crops up.Īndroid Wear 2.0 Preview images are now available to download for both the Huawei Watch and LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition. While it’s a major update, Google’s chiefs spent very little time talking about it, but there will be several developer sessions over the course of I/O to go in to more detail. In daily life this could be incredibly useful if you like to go running, but don’t want to have your phone attached to your arm in an unwieldy case, or around your waist. If you device is on the list below, youll have to buy a new wearable to get the new software. What’s more, you’ll even be able to stream music from apps like Play Music or Spotify, all completely disconnected from your phone. Some devices arent getting Android Wear 2.0 at all. With cellular watches, standalone apps will mean you can use the watch to its fullest without even needing a smartphone switched on. I just received my android wear watch and I was very excited to try todoist on it. Third, Google has been working on ways to make sure you don’t need your phone when you go running, or want to track your hikes. While I struggle to see the tiny cramped keyboard as being useful, or an efficient way of communicating, the fullscreen handwriting recognition UI could be interesting to try out, especially if voice control doesn’t work well for you. Those include the AI-powered Smart Reply, a handwriting recognition mode and even a touchscreen keyboard. Secondly, the new software includes new messaging tools. For instance, you could have a calorie tracker from a fitness app and perhaps a t0-do from Todoist show up on any third party watch face, regardless of the designer. One of the biggest updates to Android Wear with 2.0 is that you can now customize any watch face to show information from any other app. In the biggest update to Android Wear so far, version 2.0 has been redesigned with a focus on more customisable watch faces, fitness and messaging. Android Wear 2.0 is the biggest update to come to Google's smartwatch operating system yet and it gives its main competitor, the watchOS -running Apple Watch 3, a real run for its money. Google has announced a new version of Android Wear at I/O this morning.

Von Gablenz, who now runs his company from an office in Berlin, is still optimistic about the future of airships as cargo haulers. “This makes natural tanning possible.” Some 900,000 visitors, mostly from northern and eastern Europe, come each year. To open the hangar to light, “we exchanged the skin of the hall with 20,000 square yards of translucent film,” says Tanjong spokesman Patrick Kastner. So workers welded shut the two steel doors, which weigh 600 tons each. Tanjong soon found that keeping the hangar at 78 degrees Fahrenheit year-round was a challenge. A German court ordered the giant hangar sold to a Malaysian company, Tanjong, which bought it for 17 million euros (about $24 million) as a site for its Tropical Islands Resort. CargoLifter used it to store a prototype of an airship (later destroyed in a storm) capable of hoisting 60 tons.īut the end of the bull market spelled the end of von Gablenz’s dream: By 2002 his company was insolvent. Ten years ago, his plan seemed to be progressing at an abandoned Soviet military airfield 40 miles south of Berlin, his investor-backed company, CargoLifter AG, erected a $110 million airship hangar measuring 1,181 feet long by 688 feet wide by 351 feet high. German Entrepreneur Carl von Gablenz had an unusual vision: a fleet of giant helium airships that would haul outsize industrial loads, such as oil rigs or wind turbine blades, to remote areas of the globe. These were the flavors Liz didn't like, and they were still good so maybe the other flavors are better, but probably not $140 better for most people. Thanks to Lizardlifts for letting me try some Last Crumb. When I have a big project in front of me I just think, “ok, i’ll do what I can to start and take it from there”, and it inevitably isn’t as hard as I expected.Ĭrossword puzzles are really great for the mind and are a neat little microcosm of bigger challenges. I’ve learned from doing crosswords that even the smallest little start can snowball into success. When we do projects in real life it’s easy to get discouraged by the enormity of reaching our end goal. Ten minutes later the whole puzzle is done and it doesn’t seem like such a tough puzzle anymore. Before I know it, I have a corner mostly filled out. If a few of theme seem right I might try the words that cross them. I put in a guess and then try to work the crosses. The amazing thing, though, is that you can build off such a tiny start. This can be incredibly daunting because you think, “I know less than 1% of the answers, but I still have to complete this thing perfectly and also try to beat my cousin, which is probably not going to happen.” Sometimes I go through and don’t know any of them with certainty. On a Saturday puzzle I may go through all 100-130 clues and only know one. On a Monday I’m spending about 1.25-1.5 seconds per clue, which means that most of them I just know right off the bat. Overall this is good, but my friends might argue that it’s not so great when we are stuck in an escape room and I don’t want to take any hints even if it means only seeing 1/3 of the room.Īnother interesting phenomenon is what happens when I start a Saturday puzzle. Outside of crosswords, my tolerance to just sit and work on a problem has certainly increased. Keep working on it.” This translates to my other work as well, and it actually feels sort of similar to debugging a program. At first those puzzles scared me, but now I look at them and think, “Ok, well, it’s just a matter of time. This has given me a sense of omnipotence. And yet, every time I was able to solve it in the end. Though my average times are pretty good, there have been around 10 puzzles in the past couple years that took me over an hour to do. In practice that means that you can be totally stuck staring at a 75% complete puzzle, have no leads, not recognize any of the clues, and you still have to sit there and try to work it out because… what’s the alternative? At first this doesn’t matter very much, but as your streak extends you feel a lot of pressure to get the puzzle right. The NY Times Crossword app or site will not give you a gold star unless you do the puzzle before midnight with no errors and no cheating. The biggest thing I’ve learned through doing puzzles is that any problem can be solved with enough time if you have a good attitude. Besides being a lot of fun to do the puzzle (just like my daily Chipotle, I look forward to it all day), I’ve learned a lot through doing the puzzle. The last time I wasn’t able to solve the daily puzzle was over two years ago, and my median times range from around 3 minutes for a Monday to 10-15 for a Saturday (lots more variance there, so I’m not sure). Some weeks I don’t win at all.Įven if I’m not able to beat my cousin, I’m pretty good at crosswords these days. Now her intelligence and quickness has overcome that advantage and I win 1-2 times per week average. At first my extra ~15 years of experience on this earth played to my advantage and I would beat her almost every day. The rules are simple: no cheating, no using the built-in check or reveal feature, and the puzzle must be done before midnight EST. We were doing Tuesdays and Wednesdays with some difficulty, but it was a fun challenge.įast forward a few years and we both do the puzzle every single day (except that one Friday) and we share our times with each other. The New York Times puzzle ranges from Mondays (easy) to Saturdays (hard). I immediately felt that if she was getting into crosswords I should also get into them, so we started doing puzzles together. My younger cousin, with whom I tend to be both cooperative and competitive with on just about everything, had printed out a few crosswords to do on the plane. Three years ago my family came to visit me in Budapest. Ok, it feels good to get that off my chest. So far that reason I haven’t actually done the puzzle 800 days in a row, but rather 800 days with one day missing. For cryptic crosswords, check out r/crosswords.Before getting into this post, I should come clean: there was actually one friday about 450 days ago where I thought that I had already done the day’s puzzle but I hadn’t. It thus plays an increasingly important role in wound management, enhancing various interventions in a patient's post-operative pathway. The use of ciNPT is a viable option for many operative procedures, including abdominal, cardiothoracic, colorectal, obstetric, orthopaedic, paediatric, plastic/breast, trauma and vascular surgery. A negative pressure of 80mmHg has been shown to enhance microvascular blood flow in an in-vivo peripheral wound model. Upon application, the Avelle NPWT system produces a continuous negative pressure of 80mmHg (+/-20mmHg) across the wound or incision surface. The Avelle NWPT dressing connects to the portable pump via a luer lock containing a one-way valve, designed to maintain negative pressure for up to 60 minutes, should the pump need to be disconnected from the dressing. The remaining layers are comprised of polyester foam, designed to aid distribution of negative pressure across the dressing, and a showerproof polyurethane film cover layer, designed to provide a bacterial and viral barrier while also permitting the evaporative transmission of moisture vapour to aid overall fluid handling. In wounds where a filler layer is required, use of AQUACEL Extra or AQUACEL dressings would be appropriate in combination with the Avelle NPWT dressing. The Hydrofiber wound-contact layer and the core of the dressing form a gel upon contact with wound exudates, and are designed to help create a beneficial, moist wound environment for healing and locking out potentially harmful bacteria. The wound-contact layer is surrounded by a silicone adhesive border that gently secures the dressing in place to the peri-wound skin. The Avelle NPWT dressing comprises a wound-contact layer constructed of strengthened Hydrofiber Technology, retaining structural integrity following exudate absorption, and an additional eight layers of Hydrofiber Technology core, fenestrated to enhance fluid-handling capabilities. The pump may be used for up to 30 days and can therefore be used for multiple dressing changes within this period. The Avelle pump is a single-patient-use device that is disposable, portable and battery powered. The Avelle dressing may be worn for up to seven days, but may need to be changed sooner, depending on the level of exudate and according to clinical need. The device is for patients with a low to moderately exuding wound that would benefit from NPWT, such as chronic wounds, acute wounds, traumatic wounds, subacute and dehisced wounds, flaps and grafts, and surgically closed incisions. The Avelle NPWT system combines a sterile dressing and negative pressure applied to the wound by a disposable, portable vacuum pump. The Avelle system is the first disposable, portable, canisterless NPWT device to incorporate the benefits of Hydrofiber Technology within the dressing. With a lower cost base, these devices are emerging as a prophylactic option, especially in the field of closed incisions, known as ciNPT. Recent innovations in the therapy have included the development of more portable and disposable singlepatient- use devices, known as dNPWT, that allow treatment to be delivered in an outpatient setting. Thus, NPWT use has become more widespread. Advances in device technology have focused on enabling greater patient mobility, increasing quality of life and improved outcomes. The original NPWT devices were relatively large and cumbersome, incorporating bulky pumps and canisters for exudate management. Delayed wound healing and surgical site infections (SSIs) also have a substantial social and economic cost, as well as increasing pressure on healthcare systems across the world. Since then, NPWT techniques have been applied in the management of a broad variety of chronic and difficult-to-treat wounds, including diabetic foot wounds, skin grafts and closed surgical incisions. In 1993, NPWT was first described with the intention of wound healing, and by 1997 it was being used in a clinical setting. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is used to manage wounds by promoting closure through application of mechanical strain to the wound surface, removal of excess fluid and stabilisation of the environment. Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, will celebrate his 73rd birthday in nine days on May 24th, 2014. Three other tracks from the album also made the Top 100 "I Want You" (#20), "Just Like A Woman" (#33), and "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" (#81). Was track one of side one on his seventh studio album, 'Blonde On Blonde', the album reached #9 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart.
The Pixelmator team is relentless, releasing significant updates to the application every few months. Version 3.2 (codenamed ‘Sandstone’) is no exception and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store now. Codenamed Sandstone, this iteration adds a majorly-revamped Repair Tool, 16-bit channel editing for all Macs (not just the Mac Pro) alongside a whole bucket of other improvements. The Repair Tool now uses color-correction to match repaired areas seamlessly. It also has clever smarts that mean you don’t have to precisely select an object anymore, the software will remove the whole object automatically. Pixelmator will also try its best to infer the structure of the background area, for a more natural final edit. The Repair Tool now has three different options, Quick, Standard and Advanced. You can see an example of what this is capable of after the break … Quick is meant for small blemishes, whereas Standard and Advanced tackle the removal of larger objects from a scene. It’s not exactly clear under what circumstances you are supposed to change mode, so I chose ‘Advanced’ every time in my testing and the results were fantastic.
